From the second oldest family winery in Oz, this is classy, barrel-aged Shiraz. It's from Langhorne Creek, a premium region that's a bit cooler than most, so its wines have freshness to balance that dense blackberry, liquorice-tinged fruit. Superb.

Cable Bay Vineyards is dedicated to producing handcrafted wines known for their elegance and depth. Taking an Old World approach and combining it with New World techniques, Cable Bay's vibrant wines are beautifully expressive of the sites upon which they were grown. This Syrah is made from grapes grown on naturally low yielding vines. It displays fragrant blue floral aromas and dark berries, and has much less black pepper notes than its Hawkes Bay counterparts. On the palate it is opulent and velvety in texture, full of seduction and is well poised, showing hints of rhubarb, dark cherry and cocoa beans. This wine is both intense and delicate with great concentration.

Tavernello Organico Syrah Terre Siciliane IGT is a rich and full-bodied red wine, made from Syrah grapes that comes from Sicily, in Southern Italy. Dark cherries and blackberries notes together with flavours of ripe blackcurrant, it is a perfect match to lasagne, spaghetti and meatballs.

The first layer of aromas is highlighted with black forest fruits, predominantly blackberries and wild berries. Soon after the toasted notes of the barreling reveal a greater complexity, complemented with spiced notes, principally of pepper. On the palate, the tannins are firm from the outset and the fruit is mature.

Aromas of dark berries, blackcurrant, dusty clove, vanilla spices, soft brown sugar and chocolate with a whisper of fruit cake and five spice. Dry on the palate with a core of toasty, baked red berry fruit flavours, medium acidity, moderate tannins and nuances of baking spices and chocolate.

This wine showcases classical Barossa black fruit characters with dark chocolate flavours matured in a combination of French and American Oak barrels. Try with a sizzling BBQ steak.

The McDonald Series wines are an expression of both their fruit and the vision of their namesake winemaker. An aromatic, textural Syrah with a core of rich berry fruit and dark plum, complimented by lifted floral notes, warm spice, liquorice and subtle oak. The palate is medium-weight and supple with a long finish. For quality reasons, this wine is unfined and unfiltered. Decanting is recommended.

Church Road Syrah expressed the warm climate of Hawke's Bay perfectly with ripe plum, cherry and hints of spice. The vines originate from a Heritage clone of Syrah brought to New Zealand around 150 years ago. Produced from the gravelly soils of the Gimblett Gravels, this distinct Syrah shows an aromatic lift of floral and pepper aromatics with lushness and elegance on the palate. Deep red with a purple hue. Tremendous aromatic lift, with lavender and sweet cherries rising from the glass. The palate has significant density but a perfect balance that already encourages drinking.

The Lionheart of Dandelion Vineyards is their old vine Barossa vineyard. These ancient, gnarled vines, many over a hundred years of age, are not only surviving but thriving on their own roots in some of the oldest soils on the planet. In the last week of April whole bunches of Shiraz were hand harvested, then gently crushed and naturally fermented in open fermenters for eight days, hand plunged twice a day, before careful basket pressing into some new but predominantly older French Oak Barriques to finish fermentation. After 18 months maturation and a racking in the same oak, we bottled our Lionheart without filtration or fining, to capture the essence of the vineyard. Dandelion Vineyards Lionheart is ready to drink and will reward cellaring and decanting.

A very big structured wine with good fruit concentration on the palate. This fruit is carried through in a long lingering aftertaste.
