The grapes for this Chardonnay were grown in the Wairau Valley, Marlborough. This wine is made from grape parcels where 80% was fermented in new and seasoned French barriques and 20% was fermented in stainless steel. This style of winemaking enables Mount Riley to craft a wine with bright fruit forward characters while still ensuring complexity, intensity and the depth of flavours imparted by the oak contact. On the nose, citrus and stonefruit aromas are complimented by spice, gunflint and toast. An approachable palate with inviting bright fruit flavours and great texture and roundness. This lightly oaked chardonnay possesses a ripe and generous bouquet of summer stonefruit, florals, and lemon curd. The palate has nectarine, peach, and grilled pineapple flavours. These are complimented by a hint of spicy vanilla oak and creamy butterscotch.

On the nose there are aromas of citrus, as well as honeydew melon and some stone fruit (peach and nectarine). In addition there is a hint of struck match which adds complexity and a flinty minerality. The palate is concentrated with refreshing acidity and a lingering finish.
