The delicate assembly of the expression of a harvest and a majority of reserve wines, some of them held in magnums for between 7 and 15 years Special Cuvée is composed of over 85% Grand and Premier crus of the three main Champagne varieties: 60% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay and 15% Meunier. It is cellar aged for twice as long as required by appellation regulations. It is moderately dosed at between 7 and 8 grams per litre.

The nose, very open and expressive, delivers aromas of fruit and brioche. It also gives off the fragrance of peach, white flowers (hawthorn, acacia) and vanilla pod. The entry onto the palate is lively, fresh and in total harmony. This is a delicate wine with flavours of fresh fruit and honey.

Château de Bligny, the only Champagne to enjoy a Château appellation as a producer. Vines are known to have been planted in Bligny since the 12th Century. This bottling is from one of the few Clos Champenois, 'a walled vineyard' of just 2ha from the Bligny estate's vineyards in Cote des Bar which is bottled separately, given a full malo-actic fermentation, aged 3 years on the yeasts and dosed at a very dry 5 grams per litre. The 2010 winter was rigorous, spring dry and late. After a particularly sunny decade, such freshness was surprising. Summer was hot, but not excessively so. Then, two days of diluvian rain brought this ideal trajectory to a halt. In just a few days, botrytis mold developed on the grapes, mainly on the pinot noir. This triggered a race against the clock. The grapes were not yet fully mature, but a decision had to be made quickly. Dom Pérignon deployed its full resources to trace a precise map delimiting the maturity and health of each parcel in its vineyards. Every minute counted. This expert vision of the situation gave the possibility of saving excellent plots of pinot noir grapes. The challenge was met, Dom Pérignon declared a vintage quite literally 'saved from the waters': Dom Pérignon Vintage 2010, fruit of intuition and mastery.

A year of full paradoxes for winemaking. 2012 gave birth to a great vintage, surmounting multiple challenges. Nature proved unpredictable and implacable as a series of climate events descended upon the vineyards: frost in the winter and spring, torrential rains, hailstorms and cold spells while the vines were flowering, plus intense heat waves over the summer. A warm and dry climate alleviated any concerns as to the health of grapes, favouring the maturation of the fruit. The beginning of the harvest stretched from September 10 to 26, depending on the parcels. Tasting the grapes revealed tremendous promise, with a balance between freshness and generosity.

Krug Grande Cuvée 171ème Édition is a blend of 131 wines from 12 different years, the youngest of which is from 2015, while the oldest dates back to 2000. Firstly there is the winter frost that makes the vine more sensitive. Then comes the spring frost as well as a dozen hail storms causing considerable damage and affecting many areas of the vineyard. Finally a violent thunderstorm accompanied by strong hail breaks out on the 7th of June and destroys large land areas in the surrounding villages. In spite of these climatic incidents the dry, sunny summer allowed for an exceptional ripening of the grapes.
